The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have strengthened their strategic partnership ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with both institutions pledging closer coordination to ensure national security and a peaceful electoral process.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, made the commitment on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Aneke stressed the need for sustained inter-agency cooperation, timely intelligence sharing and improved coordination as security agencies prepare for the 2027 elections.
He identified opportunities to leverage existing capabilities and expertise, particularly the Nigerian Air Force’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, to support police operations and strengthen security across the country.
In response, the IGP welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working closely with the NAF and other security agencies to safeguard national security and create a secure environment for the conduct of peaceful elections.
The meeting also explored areas of joint capacity development, including intelligence, forensic investigation, crime scene management and criminal investigations.
The Chief of the Air Staff noted that greater collaboration in training, knowledge exchange and professional development would enhance the operational capabilities of personnel in both institutions.
The engagement further underscored the commitment of the NAF and NPF to strengthening inter-agency synergy and professionalism in tackling emerging security challenges and ensuring a safer Nigeria.
