Mr. Femi Oyelade, Chief Executive Officer of SAY IT LOUD AFRICA, has marked his 50th birthday by launching the FAJO Foundation.
Oyelade, a Brand and Events Consultant, celebrated his golden jubilee on Sept. 13 by reaching out to vulnerable families at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Abuja.
Rather than hold a conventional birthday celebration, Oyelade chose to provide food, relief, and hope to women and families at the camp.
The outreach also served as the official launch and maiden intervention programme of the FAJO Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on tackling poverty.
During the outreach, Oyelade and his team distributed food packages to 90 households at the camp.
The packages contained essential food items intended to provide three meals daily for families comprising between five and seven members.
The event also provided an opportunity for the celebrant to interact with women at the camp and listen to their challenges.
The women prayed for Oyelade and highlighted the need for school fees and educational materials to support their children’s education.
Moved by their concerns, Oyelade and his team pledged to address some of the identified educational needs in subsequent interventions.
The foundation said its core areas of intervention would include food security and the empowerment of artisans across communities.
According to the foundation, the initiatives are designed to contribute to sustainable development and improve livelihoods among vulnerable populations.
Oyelade expressed appreciation to individuals and organisations that supported the birthday outreach financially and materially.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who generously supported us, both financially and in kind,” he said.
“Your contributions made a tangible difference, and I pray that you continue to experience overwhelming support in every area of your lives.”
He said the foundation could not achieve its objectives alone and called for partnerships with individuals and organisations.
“To truly scale our impact, we are calling on all well-meaning Nigerians, philanthropists, NGOs, and local and international development partners to collaborate with us,” he said.
He said such partnerships would help the foundation expand its interventions and contribute to building a better future for vulnerable communities.
