The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) has summoned members to an Expanded National Executive Council (NEC) virtual meeting to deliberate on pressing issues affecting health workers in Nigeria.
In a notice dated September 28, 2026, the JOHESU National Secretariat invited its constituent unions, including the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRAI), and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), as well as state and branch leaderships.
The virtual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., with proceedings to be held via Zoom. The meeting link, according to the notice, will be circulated through appropriate WhatsApp platforms on the day of the meeting.
The union said the meeting was convened to discuss matters of urgent importance, specifically highlighting the implementation of the CONHESS adjustment, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations, and 19 months of arrears of reviewed allowances, among other issues.
The invitation was signed by Comrade Martin Egbanu, fnli, National Secretary, on behalf of the JOHESU National Secretariat.
The development comes as health-sector unions continue to engage on remuneration, conditions of service and outstanding financial obligations affecting health workers.
