NCDC Investigates Two Suspected Ebola Cases in North-East

ABUJA — Health authorities in Nigeria’s North-East region have placed two individuals under isolation following the identification of suspected Ebola virus symptoms, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) announced on Saturday.
In an epidemiological update, the public health agency disclosed that sample collection and contact tracing are actively underway to determine the nature of the illness.
The agency emphasized that classifying the individuals as suspected cases does not indicate a positive diagnosis, noting that confirmation strictly depends on ongoing laboratory analysis.
”Contact identification and listing are ongoing, while samples from the suspected cases are being subjected to laboratory testing,” the NCDC stated in its official update.

Public Health Precautions Advised
The NCDC urged members of the public to remain calm while adhering strictly to basic public health protocols. Key recommendations include: Strict Hygiene: Regular and thorough handwashing with soap and running water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers; Practicing enhanced environmental sanitation in homes and public spaces.
Following officially verified updates and directives issued by public health authorities.
The agency assured the public that further updates will be released as soon as verified laboratory results become available.
