Nigerian Peace Corps will engage Youths Productively

Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dallung has called on all Nigerians to join hands with Peace Corps of Nigeria to engage young Nigerians

in productive ventures as a way of averting iminent danger.

The minister made the call when Dr. Dickson Akoh, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria and his top brass stormed the ministry in Abuja to formally present the harmonized copy of the Peace Corps Bill recently passed by the National Assembly.

Dallung, while enjoying the members to remain law abiding, expressed happiness that many young unemployed Nigerians will find gainful employment when the Nigerian Peace  Corps Bill is signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari. “As Minister of Youth, I have young people on the street, which gives me sleepless nights”.

Earler, Dr. Akoh said conscious of the robust relationship and massive support the minister and the ministry had accorded  the Corps, especially during the pendency of the Bill before the National Assembly, it was obligatory for them to express their gratitude for the “fatherly concern”.

The National Commandant said he is convinced beyond doubt that most acts of insecurity and acrimony in the country today are deeply rooted in the unemployment and the near absence of social engagement of the youths and was optimistic  that very soon they youths will celebrate when the President gives his assent by signing the bill into law.
