With Obiano’s Victory, Commission, IGP Commend Security Agencies for Good Job

With the declaration of Mr. Willie Obiano, as the winner of the just concluded governorship election in Anambra State week

end by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 234,071 votes, the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, have expressed satisfaction with the performance and conduct of the security agencies in the election.

In a statement made available by Mr. Jimoh Moshood, the Force PRO to Sharpedgenews online on Monday in Abuja, said the IG also commended the DIG, Operations, police officers and other security agencies who participated in the election for ensuring a free and fair poll.

The statement said: “The IGP extol the high level professionalism, politeness, firmness and unbiased conducts of the Police Personnel, before, during and after the election. 

“The police equally appreciates the law abiding attitude and peaceful conduct of the good people of Anambra State, the INEC, election Monitors/Observers, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Media and other critical stakeholders for a good working relationship with the security personnel deployed for the election. 

“The good disposition and spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by most of the political parties in the election which doused fear and tensions during the election is gratifying and highly commendable.”

According to him, the impressive performance of the Police personnel to ensure law and order and a successful election is a clear testimony of the capability of the policecin its renewed commitment to continue to adhere to international best practices in the conduct of elections in the country now and in the future.

 In a similar vein, the PSC through a statement signed by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, its Head of Media, also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of police officers in the poll.

He said: “The team visited six local governments across the three Senatorial zones of the State where it observed a highly improved deployment of police men during the election.

“An average of three police men, complimented by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and prisons were seen in most of the polling units visited. The Police men on duties were civil, polite and friendly in the performance of their duties.”
