Akure on Fire as Adekunle Ajasin Students protest Akeredolu’s School Fees Hike

A few days after the announcement of the new fees for the students of the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State,

the students of the institution took to the streets of Akure, the state capital on Monday to protest the increment.

The governing council of the institution had announced the increase in the fees by over 500 percent. Specifically, the fee was increased from N30,000 to N180,000.

It was gathered that the new tuition were varied from one department to another. According to a source, the students in departments such as Educational Management and Guidance and Counselling will pay N120,0000, while students in the Accounting, Economics and Law will pay N150,000. The students in the faculty of science will be paying N180,000 as the new school fees.

The protesters were joined by the leadership of the National Association of Ondo State Students and the National Association of Nigeria Students.

They gathered at the popular Oba Adesida road at 8.30am for the protest while business activities were paralysed in the area for several hours.
