APC Insists on Reopening NASS

A caucus meeting of the All Progressive Congress, APC has insisted that the National Assembly must be reopened immediately to consider President Muhammadu Buhari’s request before the the lawmakers on funding the 2018 general elections.
The meeting currently going on at Sheraton Hotels, Abuja has in attendance Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman, Ahmed Lawan, Senate leader, members of both Senate and House of Representatives elected on the platform of the party.
Adams Oshiomhole took time to express the appreciation of the party to legislators for remaining faithful and loyal to the party in this era of defection and promised to reward them with continuity. According to him “legislative duties require experience” and high rate of turnover in the legislature was not in anyone’s interest.
Senate leader, Ahmed Lawan summarized the position of the lawmakers when he said the continued closure of the National Assembly was not in the best interest of the APC federal government, but that of the opposition. According to him the Assembly must reopen to approve the President’s request of about N242 billion for INEC to conduct 2019 elections. In addition, the President’s request for virement and supplementary 2018 budget was still pending without which the party will not be able to fund the budget and fulfil its promise to the electorate.
