Dr. Ogbonnya Onu, Science Technology Minister, has appealed to Canadian multio-national firms in Canada
to tap into the large population and Nigeria’s vibrant economy by establishing research facilities in the country .
Dr. Onu made the call when the Canadian Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amy Galican paid a working visit to the ministry on Thursday in Abuja.
Dr. Onu, noted that Canada is host to so many multinational firms and sought the Canadian envoy’s assistance to convince them to have a foothold in Nigeria, adding that with her young population and being the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria holds a lot of promise for them.
He said further, that the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology was championing the process of moving the economy from resource based to knowledge and innovation driven economy.
Earlier, the Canadian acting High Commissioner to Nigeria Amy Galigan said Nigeria and Canada have a lot to benefit each other in the areas of space technology, adding that many Nigerians students are studying in Canada with the prospect of bringing back beneficial knowledge to Nigeria .
