The federal government had declared Friday 22nd, public holiday for workers.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgina Ehuriah, in a statement made available to the media in Abuja, said bankers and those involved in essential duties are exempted from the holiday.
The statement read: “The work free day is to enable citizens return to their polling booths for postponed election to Saturday 23rd.
According to her, security agencies have been directed to be on alert to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the elections.
