In what can be described as expected fatalities, the clash between the followers of Shiites and the Police yesterday in Abuja,
the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) claiming the lives of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mr. Usman Umar, a Channel TV reporter, Precious Owolabi and several others suspected to members of the Ibrahim El-Zakzakky followers.
At the federal Secretariate, where orgy clash took place several government vehicles were burnt including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) building.
Spokesperson for the Police, Mr. Frank Mba, said 54 members of the sect have been arrested undergoing interrogation and will soonest be charged to court.
Mba, a knowledged that the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Mohammed Adamu, frowned at the incident, warning that enough is enough.
However, unconfirmed reports yesterday informed that about 11 persons on both sides of the divide including passers by may have lost their lives in the confrontation.
