Onu: No Nation Became Great without Science Tech

The Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has asserted that no nation in the history of humanity and civility have become truly great without Science, technology and Innovation.

He averred that Egypt, Rome and USA, and other countries that have been at the centre of human civilization have grown as a result of science, technology and innovation.

Onu, said the ministry will continue to encourage Nigerians to develop their creativity and innovations in finding solutions to the problems confronting the nation.

He made the disclosure when Prof. Dikeoha Okwu a Mathematics innovator paid him a courtesy call in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.

The minister however added that every profession is important; likewise we need to make sure our children study and develop aptitude for Mathematics as a subject.

The Minister stressed that no nation in the history of humanity have become truly great without Science, technology and Innovation. Egypt, Rome and USA, and other countries that have been in the centre of human civilization have grown as a result of Science, Technology and Innovation.

According to him, we need to begin the journey that would make our young people show interest in the study of Science and Mathematics.

He also said that the inventions displayed by the Innovator are very important which will draw the attention of our young people to be familiar with what they will meet in the field.

According to the minister, the world is at the fourth Technological age Nigerian are some of the most intelligent people in the world.

He commended Okwu, for his research and creativity in the field of Mathematics, and also promised that the ministry will support him through a programme that will enable him to go round the country to look for creative young minds.

Speaking earlier, Okwu showcased some of the mathematical instruments that can be used in schools, explaining that he has written over 10 million mathematical games.

Also showcased were some entertainment materials in mathematics, designed in three categories: one-on-one, classroom, and the stadium types, which were all made in Nigeria and that he needs some recognition from the government.
