The Senate President Ahmad Lawan has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress(APC)
for his victory at the Court, describing as “ringing affirmation of the solid mandate freely given by the Nigerian people.”
This was contained in a statement made available to the media where he also appealed to all Nigerians for support for the President saying “Now that the litigation is over, we should all rally as one people behind Buhari, in his commitment to building the great nation of our dream.
Lawan, urged both the winners and the petitioners to close ranks in order to forge a common front for the purpose of nation-building.
In his words, “the petitioners should gracefully accept the final verdict of our court of law while the winners should demonstrate magnanimity by extending the hand of fellowship to the opposition with a view to carrying all Nigerians along in the arduous task of nation-building.”
The appeal was dismissed in a unanimous verdict of the apex court for lack of merit bringing to an end months of litigation.
