The CEO of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has called on road users and the public to avails itself of it’s National Radio Lines: FM 107.1 on 0805 2998090 and 09067000015 it it’s toll free lines of 122 to resolve all related traffic challenges.

Oyeyemi decried the continuous carriage of containers by flatbed trailers without proper latching on the highways.

The FRSC boss has therefore ordered immediate impoundment of such vehicles by patrol teams anytime they are sighted.

In a statement by the Corps Pubic Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, said, FRSC has cemented partnership with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to ensure that dangerous vehicles are not allowed to leave the ports unless on the condition of full compliance of the latching and with other maximum safety standards.

On the dangers of such vehicles to other road users, Oyeyemi said that apart from the dangers to lives and properties, these containers when they fall on the highways or any part of the road; can easily lead to unnecessary road obstruction that will cause undue hardship to motorists on the road.

So, in order to avert this and to put a stop to further reocurrence, the Corps Marshal has directed the Operatives of the Corps to be on red alert and impound at sight, any of such trailers found in the act.

He called on Nigerians to take advantage of the National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM or the toll free 122 numbers to report any of such trailers seen on the highways without proper latching of containers.

He gave the National Traffic Radio numbers to call at all times as 09067000015 and 0805 299 8090.
