FG Advocates Use of Nigerian Languages for Science Education

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Science Technology has advocated the use of Nigerian languages to teach school children Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) so as to aid proper understanding by them.

 

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Dr. Mohammed Bello, made the disclosure when he received Odyssey Educational Foundation, a NGO that promotes girl child education, in his office on Wednesday in Abuja.

He pledged the continuous support of the Ministry for young students and scientists and said the Ministry will work with the foundation to specially promote Girl child education.

In his words, “Educate a female child, empower a nation”, adding that the process of fighting corruption should start from the homes, as the home is the beginning of the socialization process.

Dr. Umar said promoting the girl child education is of utmost importance to Nigeria and is essential for the development of the nation.

Dr. Umar, used the opportunity to invite the Oddyseyy foundation to the upcoming Science and Innovation EXPO to be hosted by the Ministry and urged them to come up with innovative ideas that could be of benefit to the nation.

Earlier, the Country Director of Odyssey Foundation, Stella Uzochukwu Dennis, said the foundation intends to collaborate and work closely with the Ministry to promote Girl child education for the benefit of the nation.
