Abia judicial workers set for strike

Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Abia chapter said they are set to embark on strike from Monday 10th of October to press on the implementation of Financial

Autonomy and independence of Judiciary in the state.

This was made known through a press release signed by the National Secretary I. M Adetola, with the title “Re: Notification of Non- Compliance Of Government to the Memorandum of Understanding Reached on 22nd of April, 2015 between JUSUN and Abia State Government on Implementation of Financial Autonomy and Independence of Judiciary Of Abia State”.

According to the release the general secretary noted that the headquarters ‘acknowledged  the receipt of your letter dated 29th September 2016 and to convey approval to your branch to recommence the suspended industrial action until the state government commences implementation of Financial Autonomy and independence of judiciary of Abia State”.

‘All points in the memorandum of understanding between JUSUN In Abia State branch and the Abia State government over the enforcement of the Federal High Court. Abuja judgement on financial Autonomy and independence of the judiciary by Abia State government must be implemented and other issues of unremitted trade Union dues to the Union”s Secretariat in Abuja.” 

‘The National Secretariat of JUSUN Abuja supports your industrial action wholly on this old case and to direct you to unfailing resume the suspended strike action on Monday 10th October 2016 until the autonomy of judiciary in approved by the state government”.

It will be recalled that Abia JUSUN last year embarked on over six months strike before the state government intervened with promises to
meet their demand.
