Adeboye Dedicates New RCCG Church, Wisdom Assembly in Kansas City

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye on Monday night cautioned against praying for the death of wicked leaders across the world.

Pastor Adeboye spoke shortly after dedicating the new campus of The Embassy, home of the Wisdom Assembly, the local branch of the RCCG in the Kansas City.

According to Adeboye, it is better and more spiritually fulfilling to pray for the salvation of such leaders. This put him in the vanguard of prayer efforts alongside prominent clergymen like Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi and Jasper Peter Akinola, before the mysterious death of Nigeria’s despotic ruler, General Sani Abacha.

Adeboye who quoted copiously from the Holy Bible told a cynical world that there was nothing impossible for God to do. He prayed that the newly dedicated church building would be a place for miracles and home of prayer.

Enthusiastic Christian faithfuls thronged the venue of the event and the main sanctuary, with people spilling into the main auditorium. Those who had imagined that the ‘African time’ factor would be an issue at the event were shocked, as the seats filled-up at the start-time of 7pm as advertised. The people who arrived late were accommodated in the adjoining rooms where they watched the event on close-circuit television screens.

Pastor Adeboye, who was accompanied by his wife Pastor Tolu Adeboye, was dressed in a grey blue-stripped suit with an orange shirt and a bow-tie of similar color but of a different hue. Others on Adeboye’s entourage included the North American Coordinator of the RCCG, Pastor Fadele, the Coordinator of the church in Europe, Pastor Olowu and the Zonal Coordinator, Pastor Coker, among others.

The host minister, Pastor Cal Afolabi Lawanson rejected the notion of the acquisition of the building by the church as an achievement. He said it was a milestone in the mandate handed to him to proceed from the United Kingdom to the United States in 2005 by Pastor Adeboye.

Adeboye was brief and businesslike in performing the task of dedicating the building. At about 8.05pm, he spoke for about seven minutes before giving the altar call at about 8.22pm. The soulful tone of Pastor Kunle Ajayi’s saxophone filled the air before Pastor Adeboye came on stage.

Pastor Adeboye, often called “Daddy G.O.” by many of his followers (short for General Overseer), arrived Kansas City International Airport at about 2.00pm Monday afternoon and was thereafter driven to his hotel for a short rest before events commenced later in the evening.

The dedication ceremony of the church, according to a text message from church officials, was expected to begin at 7.00pm.

Several members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa and some other mid-western states made the trip to Kansas City for Pastor Adeboye’s visit.

Pastor Carl Afolabi Lawanson of Wisdom Assembly, Kansas City, Missouri told sharpedgenews.com that Pastor Adeboye may not grant any media interview. Pastor Lawanson in a brief phone conversation with sharpedgenews.com directed all enquiries, especially media-related ones to the church administrator. Adeboye is expected to preside at the North American Convention of the RCCG in Floyd, Texas.

Adeboye’s private airplane touched down at about 2.00pm local time and was welcomed by Pastor Carl Lawanson of Wisdom Assembly, his wife Morinola Carl Lawanson and other officials of the church.
