AEDC commissions additional feeders to boost electricity in FCT

The Abuja Electricity Dristibution Company(AEDC) says it has inaugurated a 33 kilovolt(KV) feeders to meet growing electricity demand in parts of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).

AEDC’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Donald Etim said this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Etim said that the project would improve power supply availability within Gwarinpa, Dawaki, Katampe, Life Camp, Kubwa, Bwari, and environs.

He said the AEDC had commissioned Strategic feeders to evacuate power from “TCN 2x60MVA 132/33KV GIS Transmission Station.

“The constructed 33KV feeders will de-load Gwarinpa and Life Camp, 33KV feeders from AT2 Katampe, as well as Dawaki and Bwari 33KV feeders from AT4 Kubwa TS.”

Etim said the initial load from the facility on the two feeders had already been evacuated.

According to him, the AEDC’s Managing Director, Adeoye Fadeyibi said the feeders will help de-load existing infrastructure.

Fadeyibi said the new feeders would improve overall performance of the distribution network.

He said “the feeders would evacuate power from the 132/33KV GIS Transmission Station Dawaki.

“The 33KV Feeder H02 will feed Gwarinpa 1st-5th Avenue, Setraco, and Citec Estate, while 33KV Feeder H03 will feed 6th & 7th Avenue, Adkan Estate, and Grand Products in Dawaki.

“Also covered are Urban Shelter, Charly Boy, News Engineering, and environs.

“As a customer-centric company, we are constantly investing in our infrastructure to enhance service quality and customer experience.”

According to the Managing Director, the commissioning of the feeders was a strategic move to address increased demand for electricity.

He said the load evacuation phase would unfold in few weeks, adding that load may be adjusted gradually based on the feeder performance.
