The African Renaissance Party (ARP) Lagos State chapter commends Gov. Fashola of Lagos State in being proactive and employing all worthy measures in ensuring that the state is safe from the menace of Boko Haram sect.
We are particularly impressed by the governors unrelenting efforts in mobilizing all Lagosians, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political inclination to get involve actively in the fight against terrorism and we encourage other governors to emulate. While commending Governor Fashola, we would like to task him to consider setting up of surveillance cameras on the streets of Lagos State, even though we understand the burden of poor electricity supply within the nation in employing such a high tech measures.
Lagos state being home to all Nigerians and actively serve as the nation’s economic capital must be guarded jealously by all and sundry and not by abdicating our social responsibility of security consciousness to dumping blames on the doorsteps of those in authority.
There is no justification for a violent act, as these warnings to use violence and threats to intimidate or coerce Lagosians with a long history of peaceful coexistence, remains a common challenge for all Lagosians to tackle.
ARP Lagos says NO to terrorism and fighting terrorism is our common responsibility, as democrats. We will have to act jointly without distinction between political partisanship, ethnicities or religions.
We must support participation in denunciation, partnership as against, integration for the fight against terrorism.
