FOLLOWING earlier signs of its arrival on Friday, a biting scarcity of aviation fuel, which goes by the technical name JET A1, left hordes of travelers stranded countrywide over the weekend.
The scarcity led to cancellations of flights, leaving the domestic terminals at the Lagos’ Murtalal Mohammed Airport in a chaotic state, as agitated travelers sought means to get to the various destinations.
The situation made it impossible for airlines to get the commodity on time and when they eventually did, it was very expensive. .
Travelers have to devise alternative means of completing their journeys to and from Lagos and other destinations.
Airport officials associated the problem with shortage and cost of the aviation fuel.
The problem had emerged the previous Friday, causing Airlines to reschedule or cancel flights.
There seems to be no control over the spiraling cost of aviation fuel as it continues to rise almost on a monthly basis due to ongoing deregulation in the aviation sector.
