Aiyedatiwa’s group mourns Ondo longest-reigning monarch

Mainstream campaign group for Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS) has described as touching, the demise of Ondo State’s longest-reigning traditional ruler, the Oloba of Oba-Akoko, Oba Nurudeen Adeniyi Adegoroye.

Oba Adegoroye joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 92, and had ruled for 52 years, thus becoming the longest-reigning monarch in Ondo State, in contemporary times.

Breaking the news of the monarch’s passage in a chat with newsmen, the Yeyelobinrin (Head of females) of Oba-Akoko, Chief (Mrs) Olukemi Kofoworola, said, “Kabiyesi joined his ancestors this morning at the ripe age of 92, making him the longest-reigning Oba till he passed on”.

Expressing condolences on the passing of the royal father, the LACO-FS in a statement by its State Director of Information, Mr. Kayode Fasua, said though the Oloba lived long and was apparently fulfilled, his passing was still a rude shock to all those who adore him for his forthright disposition, truthfulness, and sense of compassion.

“The late Oloba was one monarch who possessed the unique gift of knowing virtually all families in his fast-growing community of Oba-Akoko in Akoko Southwest, and related with them all, like a father to his children.

“This same quality is similar to that of Governor Aiyedatiwa, who having met you once, remembers every detail of the encounter and seeks progress report and asks after your wellbeing, in the aftermath.

“The late Oba Adegoroye ascended the throne of his forebears exactly 12 years after Nigeria attained independence, and thereafter ensured, through interactions and development moves, that Oba-Akoko witnessed rapid development in his 52 years’ reign over the community,” Fasua eulogised.

He, on behalf of the LACO-FS, expressed the heartfelt sympathy of Governor Aiyedatiwa and all his loyalists with the people of Oba-Akoko and the concerned royal family.
