General Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church, Prophet Ezekiah Oladeji, has expressed the conviction that ailing Ondo State governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), would return to his desk hale and hearty soon.
He gave the forsee at a thanksgiving service, powered by Prince Oyeleye Fasua, to mark the 67th birthday of the governor at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Akure, over the weekend.
Oladeji, who expressed consternation at insinuations that the governor was incapacitated or dying, sneered, saying many of the governor’s detractors were his supposed friends.
“I know some people are already rejoicing, trying to fathom out the type of ‘aso ebi ‘ apparel to be bought in the event of the governor’s death. Whereas, these are people close to him, who are supposed to be his friends.
“But they will all be disappointed because Akeredolu will return to duty very soon and we will all have cause to rejoice”, Oladeji declared.
The cleric particularly recalled that he had known the governor for long and that his candour was unmatched.
“He came to me (during the Ondo State 2012 governorship election) and said he wanted to contest for governor. I told him to go and contest but that he would fail.
“He then asked, ‘Why should I bother to contest when I’m going to fail?’ I smiled and told him that ‘you are sowing a seed that will later germinate and that particularly, that is the will of God.'”
Oladeji said without any prevarication, Akeredolu went and contested against Governor Olusegun Mimiko and lost, and that being patient, he eventually succeeded Mimiko as governor.
The cleric foresaw boom for Ondo State, even as he prayed for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Meanwhile, Fasua, who is Ondo State representative at the Board of O’dua Conglomerate, also at the weekend marked the governor’s birthday with a special cake at the matriculation ceremony of All States College of Education, Ero, Akure-an affiliate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
Fasua, the renowned security expert, who founded the college, said the Ondo State people were appreciative of the infrastructural turn-around Akeredolu had brought to the grassroots of in the last six years.
He, in concert with students and staff of the college, prayed for the speedy recovery of the governor.
