Akpabio Arrives Nigeria, Says Conferment of C.O.N. would Make Him Perform Better

Governor Godswill Akpabio arrived Nigeria from an extended overseas tour and expressed appreciation for his newly earned national honor of Commander of the Order of the Nigeria (C.O.N.) at a ceremony that would hold this week in Abuja.

According to Akpabio, he first got the news of the honor through online news outlets, saying that development which has put a final nail in the propaganda efforts of the professional naysayers who continue to paint him as a non-performing state executive would not spur him into a better performance as the occupier of the seat of the Chief Executive of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor hinted that during his trip he had fruitful discussions with some investors who were willing to explore investment potentials in the state. “I was privileged to accompany the President to Australia for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting. We had series of interactions, not only with Australia but with the global community.

“For my state in particular, we had series of meetings starting from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. We met with Emirates Group and we had very fruitful meetings. They have agreed to come down to Akwa Ibom State to explore the potentials in various areas of investment particularly in the aviation industry.

“We are looking at providing a hub for the Gulf of Guinea in aviation in Nigeria. We are also looking at exploring investment opportunities at the international deep sea port at Ibaka which will complement the sea port in Lagos and which we are developing in collaboration with the federal government. This will jump start the economy of the Niger Delta and create jobs for our youths,” he said.

Governor Akpabio also disclosed that in the next one week, he will send a delegation of experts to follow up on the various discussions he had had with investors during his trip abroad, promising that he would redouble his efforts in the second in providing dividends of democracy to the people.
