Akunyili/Ngige: Judges Conference Stalls Hearing of Petition

The fresh hearing of Prof. Dora Akunyili of APGA against Dr Chris Ngige of ACN in Anambra Central Senatorial seat was stalled, because of ongoing judges conference in Abuja.

Hearing of the petition has been fixed for Nov. 29.

Justice Onajite Kuejubola-led tribunal on Nov. 18 adjourned the matter for hearing to Nov. 22 but at Tuesday’s hearing, News Agency Nigeria learnt that the judges went to Abuja for the conference.

The retrial of the petition followed the order of the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu that the appeal of Akunyili, former information minister had merit.

As at 9.30 am on Tuesday, some of the supporters of the politicians were seen trickling in to witness the hearing when they heard that it had been rescheduled.

Some of the supporters said that they were disappointed at the rescheduling, adding that they would not mind coming back at the next date for hearing.
