Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) on Thursday held a training session on the use of ICT tools for legal, legislative research and Judgement writing at the National Judicial Institute Abuja.
Chief Ebosetale David Aigbefoh Esq, who’s the Director of Programmes Aldrap, at the occasion said the training will greatly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the justice system for national development of the country.
Aigbefoh said ALDRAP was founded in 2017 by two exceptional Legislative Drafting lawyers, Mr Hillary Onwe and Dr Tonye Clinton Jaja, who are the pioneer members of the association.
According to him, since then, the association have grown to include other dedicated officers, including himself, with the aim of revolutionizing the legal regime of judgement writing and legislative drafting for the overall good of the justice system and national development.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise with the Research and Study Fellows of the NJI under the sole administrator, Hon. Justice Salisu Garba RTD, who is our gracious host for this event.
“We believe that the use of ICT tools for legal and legislative research, as well as judgement writing, will greatly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the justice system.
“We hope that this training will be informative, engaging, and useful to all participants, and we look forward to learning from each other as we work towards building a better justice system and contributing to national development.
“As we come to the end of this training on the use of ICT tools for legal and legislative research, as well as judgement writing, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone Especially Director of Studies and that of Research of NJI who participated and contributed to the success of this event.
“I would like to specially thank Joy Adesina(Mrs) SAN, Abdulkarim Kana, AG Nasarawa State and Dr. Tonye Clinton Jaja for their insightful presentations and practical sessions on statutory interpretation, application of ICT to legal research and drafting, as well as judicial research and judgement writing using Juriscrpta.
“This training has been a great learning opportunity for all of us, and I believe that the knowledge and skills acquired will be useful in our respective fields and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the justice system.
“I would also like to express our appreciation to the National Judicial Institute (NJI) under the sole administrator, Hon. Justice Salisu Garba RTD, for hosting this event and providing us with the necessary support and resources.
