Mr Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has commended President Bola Tinubu over the nomination of an FCT native, Zaphaniya Jisalo, as minister in his cabinet.
He said this on the sideline of the inauguration of the 10th executive members of the Youth Progressive Forum (YPF), in Abuja.
Maikalangu who described the nomination as a “feat”, added that it has been their yearning since the present democratic dispensation in 1999.
“The people of FCT are happy, this is the first thing the President has done to us and we will always appreciate him for that”, he said.
On the newly inaugurated executives of the YPF, Maikalangu urged them to be open to advice in other to achieve the objectives of the forum.
He added that on his part, he would contribute his quota by using his position to attract various opportunities for the growth and success of the forum.
Also speaking, Mr Danjuma Samuel, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) advised the newly inaugurated executives to be accountable and transparent in their dealings.
“As new executive members, be rest assured that you will have a lot of challenges, instead of allowing the forum to go down, I expect you to do your best to sustain it.
“Work together to achieve your objectives, keep proper account of all the money coming in and going out and don’t be found wanting,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Adamu Damihir, Chairman, YPF, assured that they would not abuse the trust reposed on them, as they would ensure they achieve the objectives of the forum.
“This is a call to duty, we were found worthy and that is why we were elected into office.
“We will work together to meet the aim and aspirations of this great forum, even as I urge my fellow executive members to function well in his or her capacity,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the YPF, which a political pressure group, has Mr Adamu Damihir as Chairman, Mr Augustine Malik as Vice-Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Asiri as Secretary and Mr Sabinga Enganya as Assistant Secretary.
Others are Fred Ameh as Treasurer, Stephen Aku as PRO, Emeka Orji as Provost, Gabriel Zico as Financial Secretary, Helen Dilibe as Women Leader, Andrew Gwari as Organising Secretary and Chidi Ezekiel as Legal Adviser.
