-Gunmen Kill another 20 People in Borno
THIRTY terror suspects were apprehended and paraded on Wednesday by security personnel from the Kaduna State Police Command. The policemen alleged that at least two of the suspects belonged to the violent Islamic sect known as Boko Haram.
The two men with alleged ties with Boko Haram were caught with dangerous items that hinted at their direct contact with the terror group. Items recovered include an assortment of rifles upon which the initials “BH” were engraved.
Ammunition and equipments including bullets, dynamites and explosive making devises were found in the suspects’ possession, alongside gadgets as cameras, laptops and mobile phones.
A tip-off led security personnel to the hideout of the two terror suspects, said police spokesman Aminu Lawal, who said the suspects will soon appear in court.
The arrest follows an encounter with two other suspects who were shot dead by a police corporal from the Zaria Division of the Nigeria Police.
Security operatives, empowered as Joint Task Force, JTF, in Nigeria appear to be stepping up their operations following the recent massacre of a total of 48 students of the Federal Polytechnic and the College of Health Technology, both in Mubi, Adamawa State on Thursday, which continues to generate public outcry from across Nigeria.
The spate of mindless killing unfortunately continued on Wednesday, when gunmen went from house to house in Abaganaram ward, in Maiduguri, Borno State, killing residents by slitting their throats open with knives.
Twenty residents were killed, according to Mr. Gideon Jibrin of the Borno State Police Command, who confirmed the killing. According to him, the killers opted for knives instead of guns to avoid being detected by security operatives in the area.
Meanwhile, the manhunt for the killers responsible for the murder of students of the Mubi township continues in Adamawa State, with security operatives conducting a detailed house-to-house search for the suspects.
