APC candidate, Muhammad winning Sabon Gari federal constituency poll

A candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Garba Datti Muhammad has emerged winner of the election

in Sabon Gari federal constituency of Kaduna state.

Speaking with SINL NIGERIA NEWS online shortly after voting at Government Girls Secondary, Doggon Bauchi, in Zaria, he expressed confidence in the electoral process, saying the electoral umpire has satisfied the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate.

Muhammad, who voted few minutes after 10am on Saturday stated that voter turnout was impressive compared to the 2015 general elections in Kaduna.

“I am satisfied with the voter turnout, if you compare the 2019 general elections to 2015, you will realise that the turnout is impressive”.

Speaking on what could be done to improve the electoral process, the lawmaker urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve on logistics and prompt delivery of electoral materials in future elections.

“In this area, there is no serious challenges, but where there are issues, I think INEC will take note and effect necessary corrections before the governorship and State Assembly elections” Muhammad added.

In a separate interview, a lawmaker and a contestant for the Zaria federal constituency, Tajudeen Abbas, urged politicians to eschew violence and embrace peace, saying in any contest there must be winner and loser. 

Abbas however enjoined INEC to ensure adequate security at polling units, stressing that at most units, electorate were not protected by security agencies.

“It is sad that some polling units  neither have police nor civil defence presence thereby exposing the voter to danger” he said.
