Fiery Lagos cleric, Prophet Lai Bamidele, on Sunday warned the ruling All Progressives Congress against shielding the Speaker of House of Representatives,
Hon.Yakubu Dogara, from probe, saying the backlash of anything of the sort can cost the party victory in the 2019 elections.
Bamidele, General Overseer of Christ Glorious End-Time Evangelical Church, Fagba, Lagos, said as an oracle of God, he could tell the APC that both Dogara and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, should be dispensed with for the party to make a head-way.
The cleric had foreseen the defeat of then President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential elections, and his vision was published by some national dailies.
On the Dogara debate over alleged budget padding by the lawmakers which the Reps Speaker was reportedly quoted as being in order, Bamidele said this is a litmus test for the relevance of ruling APC in future elections in the country.
His words: “If APC should dare cover up for the Reps’ Speaker, Dogara, over the latter’s declaration that there is nothing wrong with padding the budget, then, I declare as an oracle of God that the party will lose out in 2019.
“Let the party expressly ask him and Saraki who is currently on trial to resign. This is the path of honour for the APC as Nigerians look up to the party for true leadership. The truth is that, Dogara and Saraki are PDP in the heart and APC in the body; party politicking all over the world does not condone betrayal.”
The cleric particularly expressed concern over increasing instances of hedonistic livelihood among Nigerian lawmakers, saying some of them would go launder money abroad at the expense of the bleeding Nigerian economy.
He applauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for their individual traits of transparency but remarked, saying, “Buhari is not a listening President and this has shown in some of his recent lopsided political appointments which are unfavourable to the eastern and south-western parts of the country.”
On the threat of secession from the Niger-Delta militants, the cleric observed that though the region has not been fairly treated by the polity, the militants’ reaction was destructive.
“Simply because you want your rights, that does not mean you should blow up your heritage, which is also your right,” he said, concerning the blowing up of oil pipeline. “But the Federal Government should meet them to address their demands,” he appealed.
