The All Progressives Congress, (APC) has finally submitted the name of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, to the Independent National
Electoral Commission, (INEC) as its gubernatorial candidate in the November 26, 2016 election holding in Ondo State, South West Nigeria.
Mr. Akeredolu had assured thousands of his party faithfuls in an interview published on Wednesday by Sharpedgenews that he remained the party’s flagbearer.
The national organizing secretary of APC, Senator Osita Izunaso confirmed that the name of Akeredolu was sent with that of his running mate, Agboola Ajayi. This is the second coming of Akeredolu as a guber candidate in the state. The protracted struggle to get a confirmation for him had pitched President Muhammadu Buhari against a powerful leader of the party, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had wanted his business stooge, Mr. Segun Abraham to be coronated as the natural choice for Ondo state.
The choice of Akeredolu has already triggered an exodus of some aggrieved former aspirants from the party, one of them, lawyer Niran Sule-Akinsuyi has returned to PDP.
