The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Abuja South Federal Constituency, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, as winner of the
Feb. 25 House of Representatives election.
The Abuja South Federal Constituency consists of Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Kuje area councils.
Ajiya, who is the immediate past Chairman of Abaji Area Council, defeated the incumbent, Alhaji Hassan Sokodabo
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who sought for second term.
The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Wasiu Gabadeen, who declared the result, said that Ajiya of the APC scored 51,502 votes to
beat his closest rival of the PDP, Sokodabo, who got 47,376 votes.
He said “after receiving votes and analysed all the results, I, Prof. Wasiu O. Gabadeen, the INEC Returning Officer for the Abuja
South Constituency election declare Abdulrahman Ajiya of the APC.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, he is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.
