Haliru Mohammed Bello, Ex – PDP national chairman was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja following allegations of diversion of funds.
Mohammed, who is being prosecuted along with his son for their role in the diversion of funds meant for procurement of arms by the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) arrived the court premises in an ambulance.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Bello December last year for allegedly receiving N600m from the office of the National Security Adviser in the name of Bam properties.
The anti-graft agency said the alleged sum was part of the $2.1 billion funds meant for the procurement of arms for the military during the last administration.
Haliru Mohammed Bello’s arraignment was meant to take place last week Wednesday but could not due to his health challenge.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged Bello, who is also a former Minister of Defense, and his son, along with their firm, Bam Properties.
