Arsene Wenger Proud Despite Missing out on the Top Four

 Arsene Wenger says he is proud of his players effort despite missing out on top four – Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool tipped the Gunners

to the final Champions League spot.

The Emirates stadium outfit have missed out on the top four for the first time in 20 years as Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years but Arsene Wenger is saying he is proud of his team.

Despite a 3-1 win over Everton on the final day of the 2016/2017 Premier League season, the Gunners failed to enter the top four as Liverpool won 3 – 0 against Middlesbrough.

 Arsene Wenger is bitter Arsenal missed out on the top four. Speaking in the mixed zone after the match, Wenger said a bad spell between December and February cost his side the top four.

The Frenchman called it personal that he could not achieve Champions League football once again. Arsene Wenger on missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 20 years: “It is annoying but we had a spell during the season that was difficult and it was difficult for me in my personal situation. “We were playing in a hostile environment. The players came back stronger in the last two months and I’m very proud of them for doing that.”

The Frenchman reiterated his love for the Gunners saying he rejected the biggest clubs in the world to stay with the Gunners. “I was focused on my job, he added. “I am professional. I love this club enough to do my best every single day. One thing you cannot question is my love for this club. I’ve turned down every club in the world to stay here.”

 Chelsea finished the season with 93 points, Tottenham came second with 86 points while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City finished the season with 78 points in third.

 Liverpool beat Arsenal to fourth place with 76 points with the Gunners on 75 points.

 Manchester United confirmed sixth for more than two weeks finished in sixth position while Everton complete the top seven and qualify for the Europa League in seventh place.
