As Idris Retires, Buhari Appoints Mohammed Acting IG

Following the groundswell of opposition and calls from across different quarters that President Muhammadu Buhari

should retire Mr. Ibrahim Kpotum Idris, in his capacity as the Inspector General of Police (IG), he on his own has decided to throw in the towel today.

Arising from this development, President Buhari, has therefore moved to name Mr. Adamu Mohammed, in acting capacity as the incoming IG and he is resuming immediately.

SHARPEDGENews Online, learnt that he is a former Commissioner of Police in Enugu State.

He worked previously as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State and the United Nations and INTERPOL, before rose to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). His last Port of duty call was at the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos.

The outgoing IG was born on January 1959 and by policy recommendation, he will be 60 today and should therefore retire voluntarily, which is almost forced to do as his stay as IG is generating controversy and overheating the polity.

SHARPEDGENews learnt that Mohammed lived up to expectation while he worked at the INTERPOL headquarters in France and that his brillance acumen made him the first African director at INTERPOL.
Mohammed studied Geography in the University and is said to be proficient in French. He was born in November 9, 1961. He joined the NPF in 1986 and hails from Nassarawa State.
