Rural dwellers in Akoko Southwest Local Government area of Ondo State have been assured that the newly allocated N2 billion soft loans to peasant farmers and petty traders will not be hijacked by privileged persons.
The council’s Director-General for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Hon. David Ajobiewe, gave the assurance at various wards of Oka, Iwaro-Oka, Akungba and Oba-Akoko, among other communities respectively, in Akoko Southwest.
He said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had raised a well-guided micro-credit agency to ensure that the money reach those in dire need of government support, to boost their trade or farming, as the case as be.
“We are here to assure you, our fathers and mothers, that Governor Aiyedatiwa is determined to make sure that you all get your fair share of the disbursement of N2 billion loan grant he recently announced and his target are you people seated here.
“The Governor sees through your plight and he is determined that you should be empowered with soft loans to boost your businesses and farming, ” Ajobiewe assured.
He thus urged the residents who are card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to come out en mass on Saturday and vote for Governor Aiyedatiwa to bear the party’s ticket for the November governorship election.
Ajobiewe and his team, during the house-to-house campaign, gave out freebies to residents in all the communities visited.
The campaign involved local government executive members from Wards 1 to 5 in Akoko Southwest Local Government.
Remarking on the exercise, Ajobiewe said the house-to-house campaigns offered several advantages, like personal connection; which allowed the team to connect with voters on a personal level, fostering trust and rapport.
“By engaging voters at their doorsteps, campaigns become easier, leading to increased voter turnout on election day. It is a highly effective strategy for building relationships with voters, mobilising support, and winning elections,” Ajobiewe appraised.
The itinerary on the first day of its campaign visit, included capturing all communities in Oke Oka, such as Uba, Semerin, Okia, Korowa, Ibaka, Ikanmu, Agba, Owase, Ikese, Iboje, Ebirin, Iwonrin, and Idofin.
As a gesture of goodwill, the LACO-FSIC team shared some commodities with the residents as gifts. The residents also expressed gratitude and pledged to give their votes to Governor Aiyedatiwa in the APC primary
The team also visited traditional rulers, their chiefs, and other critical stakeholders.
