Ex-minister Alison-Madueke’s Suit Against EFCC Suffers Setback

A suit filed by the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to challenge the order obtained by the EFCC for final forfeiture of her seized assets was on Monday stalled at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.The matter, which was before Justice Inyang Ekwo, was fixed for further mention in the day’s cause list. However, the case could not proceed because the court did not sit. Justice Ekwo was said to be attending a seminar at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja. The matter was subsequently fixed for November 21. The ex-minister had sued the anti-graft agency as the sole respondent through her counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN). Rivers Assembly Screens, Confirms Four New Commissioner Nominees

The commissioner nominees include Israel Ngbuelu, Evans Bipi, Otamiri Ngubo and Benebo Anabraba. The speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, announced during plenary that the governor forwarded a letter containing four names for screening and confirmation. The House leader, Sokari Good-boy, said three of the nominees were former lawmakers “who served diligently during their tenure.” He, therefore, urged his colleagues to allow the trio to take a bow and go. The House, however, screened the fourth nominee before confirming all of them. NAAT gives FG 21-day ultimatum over non- payments of 5- months withheld salaries

Mr Ibeji Nwokoma, President of NAAT said this in a letter addressed to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha in Abuja. The letter was titled, "Notice of 21-day ultimatum to embark on an industrial action,''. Lebanon: 500 Nigerians so far registered with mission..As arrangements in place to send C130 plane for evacuation

There are more than 2000 Nigerians in that country, according to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A statement signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Amb Eche Abu-Obe, however said not all of them indicated interest to come back home. Former Inspector-General of Police Mike Okiro says the amendment of section 7 (6) of the Police Act 2020, allowing a four-year tenure for the office of the IGP, would stabilise the police system. Israeli Airstrike Destroys Weapons Depot In Syria’s Jableh City

An Israeli drone attack targeted and destroyed a weapons depot in the coastal Syrian city of Jableh before daybreak Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported. The attack carried out via drones and warplane missiles levelled the depot and caused massive explosions heard from long distances, said the UK-based watchdog group. It added that the Syrian air defences and Russian forces responded to the attack within 40 to 50 minutes. The depot is situated near the Hmeimim Air Base, the largest Russian air base in Syria, located in the northwestern province of Latakia. No immediate reports of casualties have been reported.
