Disability Rights Activist Seeks Support For UN Committee Candidacy

Dr Christopher Nwanoro, a disability rights activist, is soliciting Nigeria’s and Africa’s support to champion the cause of persons with disabilities (PWDs) on the UN Committee on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). He made the plea during an interview with journalists on Sunday in Abuja. Mr Nwanoro, who is visually impaired, highlighted the challenges faced by PWDs in the country and called for support to enable them to carry out their daily responsibilities with less stress. He was nominated by the Federal Government in 2022 to represent Nigeria and possibly Africa in the UN CRPD elections scheduled for June 11. Lucky Aiyedatiwa Clinches Ondo APC Governorship Ticket

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo state, has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for the November 16 election. Usman Ododo, Kogi state governor and chairman of the election organising committee, declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the party’s primary in the early hours of Monday. Ododo said Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes to defeat his closest challengers — Mayowa Akinfolarin who had 15,343 votes and Olusola Oke who polled 14,915 votes. Aiyedatiwa won in 16 of the 18 LGAs in the state while Oke won in Ilaje local government area. The election was cancelled in Ifedore LGA due to issues of violence. The primary election which many aspirants have said is full of irregularities.

The police in Oyo State say they have commenced an investigation into the kidnapping of a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Olugbenga Olawore, and 14 others. Mr Olawore and other passengers of a 14-seater bus were kidnapped along Lanlate-Eruwa Road on Friday in Oyo State. How Gov.Ododo Assisted Yahaya Bello To Escape EFCC’s Arrest

The Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo has assisted his former boss, Yahaya Bello to escape arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have barricaded the Abuja residence of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello. Mr Ododo arrived at the Abuja residence of Mr Bello, located at Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, at about 2:45 pm. The EFCC officials and armed security personnel had barricaded Mr Bello’s Abuja home, blocking both entrances. The EFCC operatives who tried to gain entry into the house but were denied access by Mr Bello’s security personnel. Later in the evening, it was gathered that Governor Ododo had to smuggle his former boss into one of the vehicles in his entourage to escape.
