The appeal was made in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja by the coalition’s Head of Media, Ms. Hannatu-Asheloge Osifeso, who noted that a campaign had been launched in support of this cause. The coalition urged Nigeria’s most influential financial stakeholders to take immediate and structural steps to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs. Tragedy has struck Billiri town, the headquarters of Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State when a trailer loaded with goods rammed into a procession of Christian youths who were celebrating the Christian Easter festival. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of cocaine concealed in twenty sets of religious books bound for Saudi Arabia. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday that the cocaine consignment consisted of twenty parcels with a total weight of 500 grams buried in the pages of the religious books. He said the seizure occurred on Tuesday, April 15, when NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) searched through export cargo bound for Saudi Arabia at the logistics firm.
