Naira Depreciates To N1,230/$ At Parallel Market

The naira reversed the appreciation trend at the parallel section of the foreign exchange market on Friday. The local currency depreciated by 17.14 percent to N1,230 per dollar — from N1,050/$ on April 17. Currency traders, known as bureau de change (BDC) operators, quoted the buying rate at N1,200 and the selling price at N1,230 — leaving a profit margin of N30. “The price of the dollar against naira increased since yesterday, probably due to the fact that there has been an increased demand since yesterday,” Aliyu, a BDC operator, said. Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s N1 Billion Suit Against FG For Adoption Of Processes

A Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned a N1 billion suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), against the federal government and State Security Service (SSS) until April 23 for adoption of processes. Justice James Omotosho adjourned the matter after a lawyer to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Gbenga Oladimeji, filed a process shortly before the hearing commenced. Mr Omotosho, who was unhappy over Mr Oladimeji’s delay in filing the motion, subsequently adjourned the matter for adoption of processes. How Gov.Ododo Assisted Yahaya Bello To Escape EFCC’s Arrest

The Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo has assisted his former boss, Yahaya Bello to escape arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have barricaded the Abuja residence of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello. Mr Ododo arrived at the Abuja residence of Mr Bello, located at Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, at about 2:45 pm. The EFCC officials and armed security personnel had barricaded Mr Bello’s Abuja home, blocking both entrances. The EFCC operatives who tried to gain entry into the house but were denied access by Mr Bello’s security personnel. The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has seized three shipping containers of 3000 cartons of pirated books with a conservative market value of over N300 million.
