The police command in Osun has arrested four suspects that allegedly conspired and killed a 45-year-old woman for money ritual in Ibadan, Oyo State. The police command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, made this known during the parade of the suspects in Osogbo on Friday. A Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned a N1 billion suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), against the federal government and State Security Service (SSS) until April 23 for adoption of processes. Justice James Omotosho adjourned the matter after a lawyer to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Gbenga Oladimeji, filed a process shortly before the hearing commenced. Mr Omotosho, who was unhappy over Mr Oladimeji’s delay in filing the motion, subsequently adjourned the matter for adoption of processes. The Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo has assisted his former boss, Yahaya Bello to escape arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have barricaded the Abuja residence of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello. Mr Ododo arrived at the Abuja residence of Mr Bello, located at Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, at about 2:45 pm. The EFCC officials and armed security personnel had barricaded Mr Bello’s Abuja home, blocking both entrances. The EFCC operatives who tried to gain entry into the house but were denied access by Mr Bello’s security personnel. Later in the evening, it was gathered that Governor Ododo had to smuggle his former boss into one of the vehicles in his entourage to escape.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has seized three shipping containers of 3000 cartons of pirated books with a conservative market value of over N300 million. The director-general (DG) of the commission, Dr John Asein, disclosed this in a press statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Abuja. Mr Asein said the containers were intercepted at Onne Port , Rivers, in collaboration with NCC enforcement partners – the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the State Security Service (SSS). Some Nigerians have called on the federal government to unify its proposed three new national identity cards, slated for launch in May this year. They gave the advice in separate interviews on Sunday in Abuja. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) recently announced plans to provide multipurpose identity cards for about 104 million citizens nationwide. The three new national identity cards include a bank-enabled national ID card, a social intervention card, and an optional ECOWAS national biometric identity card.
