The police in Lagos, on Thursday, arraigned two security guards, Collins Azi, 26 and Adejoh Aromh, 37, before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for attempting to rob their employer of his belongings at gunpoint. The defendants, residing at Ogba, Lagos, are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, attempt to rob and possessing a locally fabricated gun. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed on December 14, 2023, at Kartel Company Limited, situated at 9 Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja. A former attorney general of the federation and justice minister, Adetokunbo Kayode, says the contributions of deceased Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to the legal profession are an inspiration to members of the bar. On Wednesday, residents of Akure, the Ondo capital, paid their last respects to the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Students lined up at Akure’s major roads to wave at the motorcade that brought the late governor. Civil servants and residents were present at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, to bid the former governor farewell. Aisha Mohammed, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) coordinator in Katsina, has cautioned corps members against seeking unnecessary redeployment after the orientation exercise. The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Monday discharged Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare of an alleged treasonable felony charge by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime. In a ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite struck out the matter after A.R. Residents of Ibadan in Oyo State on Monday morning blocked major roads to protest against the economic hardship caused by the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The protest began in Ibadan's Mokola area, and the protesters, mostly youths, barricaded the Mokola under-bridge and the Queen Elizabeth Road. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has reopened the head office of Sahad supermarket previously sealed for customer extortion and lack of transparency in price fixing. The acting executive vice chairman of FCCPC, Adamu Abdullahi, said this in a statement in Abuja on Saturday. Mr Abdullahi said the reopening followed a mutual understanding and commitment from the store to implement transparent pricing practices.
