Benue has 34 solid minerals out of 44 found in the country – Mnyim

The State Chairman, Mineral Resources and Environment Management Committee (MIREMCO), Barr Fidelis Mnyim disclosed this at a press conference in Makurdi. Mnyim who is also the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order said the State was hugely blessed with over 85 percent of the country's mineral deposits. Traders are gnashing their teeth as the Enugu government begins the enforcement of the collection of N200 daily tax. On Thursday, tax collectors went around markets in the capital city and sealed defaulters’ shops. In 2023, the Enugu government imposed a N200 daily tax on traders and hawkers and gave an option for annual, monthly or quarterly payment. Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Hit 29.90% In January, NBS Report Reveals

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says Nigeria’s headline inflation rate increased to 29.90 per cent in January 2024 from 28.92 per cent recorded in December 2023. The NBS disclosed this in its December Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Inflation Report, which was released in Abuja on Thursday. According to the bureau, the figure is 0.98 per cent points higher than the 28.92 per cent recorded in December 2023. Similarly, the bureau said, on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 8.08 per cent points higher compared to the rate recorded in January 2023, which was 21.82 per cent. An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Monday, sentenced a 53-year-old rubber trader, Kenneth Mba, to life imprisonment for defiling a friend’s 12-year-old daughter. Justice Rahman Oshodi, in his judgement, held that the prosecution proved the charge of defilement against the convict beyond a reasonable doubt. The judge handed down the verdict after finding Mr Mba guilty of the offence of defilement of a minor.
