Tinubu Appoints 1988 OAU First Class Graduate Adviser For China-Nigeria Strategic Partnership

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Joseph Tegbe as director-general and global liaison for the Nigeria-China strategic partnership reached by the two countries during the President’s visit in September. Mr Tegbe, a 1988 first-class graduate in civil engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Osun State, will report directly to the President, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser, Information and Strategy, said in a statement on Sunday. The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Friday admitted Bristol Isaac Tamunobifiri, popularly known on his X handle as “PIDOM Nigeria,” to a N5 million bail with one surety in the like sum. Justice Emeka Nwite, in a ruling on his bail application moved by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, held that bail is a constitutional right. Mr Nwite said he was inclined to grant Mr Tamunobifiri bail except where there was reasonable ground to believe that the defendant might evade trial or attempt to destroy evidence. A high court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday sentenced five men charged with the Offa bank robbery incident to death by hanging. The court convicted Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye and Adeola Abraham. Delivering judgment, Justice Haleema Saliman held that the five defendants were found guilty of conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide and illegal possession of firearms. Saliman said that the defendants caused the death of people, including police officers and civilians during the armed robbery in Offa, on April, 2018, which is punishable by death.
