The Joint Task Force, JTF has said it has killed the Commander, commanding North-west and North-east of
Maiduguri in a fierce ongoing battle with the sect in some deadly black spots within Maiduguri and Jere local government areas of the state.
In a statement by the spokesman of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa on Thursday evening, which was made available to newsmen, the JTF said, Ibn Saleh Ibrahim, one of the top commander has been killed.
“it took the efforts of the combine troops of the joint task force operation restore order in Borno, 333 Air Defence Regiment, The Department of State Security Services and supported by Armoured personnel carriers with Helicopters, which conducted a major offensive operation against the insurgence to get at the top commander and his foot soldiers.” JTF said
Lt. Col. Sagir Musa also said that, the operation which was conducted in the terrorist enclaves at Nganaram, Bulabulin and Bayan Quarters areas of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital was a sustained follow up operation this afternoon.
According to JTF, “during the offensive and in a counter attack, a major commander of the Boko Haram terrorists commanding the North-west and North-east of Maiduguri by the name: ‘Ibn Saleh Ibrahim’ with some of his foot soldiers were killed by the JTF troops.”
Lt. Col. Sagir Musa also confirmed that, the late Ibn Saleh Ibrahim was confirmed to be responsible for the assassination of late Nigeria’s civil war hero, late General Mamman Shuwa who was killed at his resident in Gwange early this month.
According to JTF, late General Mamman Shuwa was killed by the orders of the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau
