Breaking! INEC Extends Voter Registration by 14 Days

With yet to be registered voter mounting up pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register,

the commission has extended inevitably the deadline for the ongoing voter registration exercise by 14 days.

Our reporter learnt that this is coming few days to the initial deadline of August 17 even as pressure groups, Civil Society Groups and NGOs like TakeIt Movement, OurMumuDonDo and others met with officials of INEC requesting for an extension of the deadline to enable more Nigerians register.

SHARPEDGE Online news checks at the INEC PWD centre in Kubwa, a satellite town in FCT, on Tuesday showed more enthusiastic Nigerians waking up as early as 4 am to queue up to register.

INEC official who spoke on the ground of anonymity said the process has been on since April last year. She added that it is unfortunate that INEC cannot attend to about 100 registered queued persons as against 300 that appeared on the queue.
