
A first-class monarch, the Oloba of Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade, Otutubiosun I, has joined his ancestors.
Oba Agunbiade passed away on Thursday morning at an undisclosed hospital in Akure.
He reigned for 38 years, having ascended the throne in 1987.
He was 84 years old at the time of his passing.
The traditional announcement of the monarch’s demise is still being awaited, in line with local customs.
During his reign, Oba-Ile community in Akure North Local government area of Ondo state witnessed significant economic transformation.
He was known for his commitment to community development and for upholding the reputable royal dynasty of Oba-Ile.
In honor of the late monarch, markets in Oba-Ile were closed on Friday, even though the official announcement of his passing had not yet been made.
The formal declaration is expected to occur once the designated traditional chief, Ibara responsible for such announcements is available.
Oba Agunbiade’s legacy is marked by his dedication to the progress and unity of his people, and his passing is a significant loss to the Akure North community and Ondo State as a whole.
