Breastfeeding Week: Medical personnel Recommends Breastfeeding For Infants Growth

Assistant general secretary of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Nanman Philemon Kash has underscored the importance of breastfeeding for infants in the first six months of life.

Kash explained that this week is world breastfeeding week, marked every year from the first to seventh of August just as she pointed out that breastfeeding is crucial to proper growth and development of infants.

” Breastfeeding is crucial to growth of infants and as this is world breastfeeding week, we all need to step up and educate people on the many importance of breast milk to the the baby; and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life” she said.

She added that, the week is observed annually to highlight the need for consistent breastfeeding for heathy infants growth and development.

She noted that the 2022 World Breastfeeding Theme ‘Step up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’ seeks to involve governments, communities, and individuals.

According to her the theme aims to raise awareness about sustainable breastfeeding environment at home and official environments. (NAN)
