Buhari Urges NSE to Make Nigeria Industrial Hub

President Mohammed Buhari has urged members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to make Nigeria an industrial hub

that will create jobs and reduce poverty in the country.

The President made the call during the investiture of Engr. Adekunle Mukuolu, as the 31 President of NSE over the week end, in Abuja.

Represented by the  Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnya Onu, he called on Nigerian Engineers to be in the vanguard of the scientific technological renaissance that the country is inaugurating through innovative policies with the aim to spearhead the development of the nation.

He said: “I believed our engineers are well-placed to assist in the realization of our numerous policy initiatives. The recent policy guidelines on planning and execution of projects, programmes and contracts that have Science , Engineering and Technology (STI) components, is particularly instructive.” 

According to him, the policy guides, which have been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), are imbued with great revolutionary potentials that would be of great benefits to the generality or our engineers and other professionals in science and technology

He urged the engineers to jump on the bandwagon and seize the opportunities created by the guidelines for their own benefits as well as the country adding that Presidential Executive Order will soon be issued to commenced the implementation of the guidelines.

In a remark, the new President of NSE, appealed to Nigerians, particularly the political class to join hands with Nigerian Society of Engineers to developed our country and ensure that they provide first class public facilities with an infrastructure that would be the envy of other countries.

He said the society will ensure that the president succeeds in the area of infrastructural development for the development of the country.
