Buried Arms Unearthed at Ibadan Farm

A farmer at Babadiya Village in Oyo State, Mr Yakubu Pako,  has discovered  some  arms buried in his farmland by unknown persons.

DSP Adebayo Lanode, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, said in a statement on Thursday  that the farmer  dug up three single barrel guns and one locally made pistol while at work on his farm on Oct. 3.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  reports that snapshots of the scene and the arms were  taken to assist the police in their investigations.

In another development, two suspects have been arrested for attempting to murder three children at Fulani Ataye Village, near  Saki.

Lanode said that one Wakili Aliyu reported that one of the suspects  led an eight-man gang into the bush and abducted  his children who were grazing their cattle.

NAN reports that the incident happened on Oct. 7 at about 11am.

Aliyu added that the man ordered his gang members  to tie the hands and legs of his children and throw them into a nearby river.

“He was, however, prevailed upon by members of his gang to spare the lives of my three children,” Aliyu said.

Aliyu alleged that his children were later taken to the camp of the man where they were allegedly tortured until day break.

The police said  investigation was  in progress to apprehend more suspects while  the case had  been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. (NAN)
