2023 Elections: EFCC Says It Did Not Advise INEC Not to Sell Forms to Politicians

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that its attention has been drawn to a report circulating in the social media, in which the Executive Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, is quoted as having advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not to sell forms to any aspirant who has a file with the agency, pursuant to the 2023 general election. In a statement signed Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Spokesperson for the Commission said that the report is false as the Executive Chairman has neither met with INEC officials nor made any pronouncement remotely related to election since he was appointed. Environment Minister Seeks Stakeholders’ Collaboration to Tackle Wildlife Crime

The Minister of Environment, Dr Mohammad Abubakar, on Thursday in Abuja urged environment stakeholders to collaborate to tackle forest and wildlife crimes. The minister gave the charge at a workshop to mark the 2021 edition of World Wildlife Day organised by the ministry and the National Park Service. Abubakar said that through the ministry Nigeria was already championing the fight against illegal wildlife trade in West Africa. “This has led to the development of a West African Strategy on Combating Wildlife Crime, presently being adopted. “We have maintained strong working relations with the Convention on International Trade on Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna, especially in trade regulation and control,’’ he said.
