Court dismisses El-Zakzaky’s suit against Immigration Service, DSS, NIA over travel documents

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday dismissed a suit filed by leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah, seeking an order compelling the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS ) to reissue them international passports. Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a judgment, held that the couple failed to provided sufficient evidence to show that their passports were either seized, destroyed, lost or that the relevant agency was unwilling to reissue travel documents to them. A 28-year-old security guard, Gabriel Moses, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly conspiring with others to steal a tricycle worth N870,000. A 25-year old scavenger, Joshua Lucky, was on Tuesday sentenced to six months imprisonment for stealing iron window protectors. Lucky was prosecuted on a two-count charge of stealing and breaking into living house. The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olufemi Omilana, told the court that Lucky committed the offence at about 8.3 a.m. on March 17. He said that the convict broke into the house of Oluwatoyin Christopher at Plot 5, Akoto Layout, Elebu area, Ibadan. ”In the process, he stole five iron window protectors valued at N100, 000,” Omilana said.
